Pokémon Pokopia is a warm, unusually ambitious spin-off that successfully combines Pokémon collecting with the creative building of Dragon Quest Builders and the relaxed community design of Animal Crossing. Playing as a Ditto, players restore a post-human world, create habitats, attract Pokémon, and reshape terrain using abilities borrowed from their new friends. Reviewers consistently praised its charm, flexibility, exploration, writing, and satisfying habitat-based collecting. The main drawbacks are relatively minor: progression can be slowed by waiting, recipe and material discovery is occasionally opaque, some controls feel finicky, and the art style is less successful with certain larger Pokémon.
